A lot of cricket played in Australia yesterday. Not a lot of wickets. Over compensation for the ashes? Flat decks where you can hit through the line the order of the day.

Well that trend ended when Aussie A had a bat
All out for 122 in reply to 428

Lucky to get three figures.
Caught a glimpse as I channel surfed past and they were 59/9.

This is a little extraordinary

In real time, watching from the camera angle. Only the speed the ball carried indicates that it came off the bat. Tailender with bat coming at weird angle and his leg squaring up exactly at point the ball hit bat meant that it was confusing.
Scorn should be heaped at a guy who doesn't walk even when he nicks it to second slip, IMO.
There's a limit, to letting the umpire decide, at some point it's just too embarassing as a human to stay out there.

Yeah when you slow it right down the leg comes around after the ball is already on it's way to 2nd slip. I'm amazed he didn't walk.

Quite a bit of talk about the 16 year old Naseem Shah playing for Pakistan. Read someone likening his action to Dennis Lillee's and that's pretty right I think - though he's shorter than Dennis. Getting impressive carry, though!
Edit - seems you have to watch the video on Youtube - mainly Naseem bowlng to Marcus Harris and giving him plenty of problems.

first test today. Just glanced at the coverage, gets a thumbs up from me, Mel McClaughlan is such a fox.

yeah boy. Even old Chimo wouldn't be turning that down
Pakistan ignore the annual press pressure to get sucked in by a "green" gabba pitch, and make the right call to bat first.

About 10 minutes until I head down from my desk to see the opening couple of overs. The quickest way to find which TV in our building is showing it: locate the TV surrounded by the subcontinental employees "working" on their laptops.

Pakistan started this game at $8 H2H, which I think is massive overs.
Clearly the Gabba is very difficult for visiting sides, but this Aussie team is still pretty fragile and if the Pakis can put 350 on the board first up then we might find it difficult.
