Still yet to confirm if Metallica is a girl or a boy
My plan to force my oldest to befriend this random kid has failed, apparently the fact that he or she is a year younger and is in a class on the other side of the school makes it impractical to befriend. 6 year olds...Exciting news..
My 6 year old will have Metallica in her class next year.
She has exactly 7 months to become besties so we can tell everyone Metallica will be at our daughters birthday! -
Then pulled out as they heard you weren't making Raw Cacao Butter Chocolate Bark. Bloody hippies

My grandfather was a child welfare officer in the 50s and 60s and changed a lot of kids names who were taken into care, lots of them were named after battles dad fought or died in so there was Tobruks etc. Last Leave and Ford V8 were the standouts for us.

Here I was thinking boganism was more of a recent thing. I guess they have to descend from somewhere.
@Paekakboyz as the most recent Dad on here we're all hoping you've gone full Bogan with the name? Don't let us down....
@Virgil do we know Metallicas sex yet ? ( as if it's any better either way....)

@MN5 Metallica is a girl..
Sounds like she's just an ordinary kid. My 6 year old of course has no idea what the fuss is about. -

You pretty much owe it to the fern to get to know the parents just so you can tell us what kind of people actually call their kids this name.
I wonder if my ex will let me change my boys names to Faith no More and Guns'n'Roses?
-
We actually haven't named her yet. I asked the wife if she wanted to trawl through @Mokey's novels for inspiration - got a funny look for some reason!!
Bubs is Kiwi/Cambodian so there will be a bit of fusion going on - with two names though, rather than some hybrid or east/west mash up.

I recommend having two crazy first options, and get the one you want on the third try.
I started at Zinzan, then Carlos, and finally got Sean. Notice a pattern?
Josh was our first choice, I wasnt as keen on Norm, Ian, Glenn or Sid
Am sure wee Metaliica will have it shortened to Teli, Lica , Meti or something

Bogans are a more recent thing but ferals are not it appears.

@Paekakboyz Only if you are considering delightfully traditional names. My heroines so far have been Annabelle, Catherine, Emma, Caroline, Rosalind, and Grace. Upcoming heroines are Louisa, Eliza, and Mairi.
Not much scope for fucked up names in Tudor or Regency aristocracy, which is a huge relief.

Its just that, back in the day, anyone picking a stupid name was told how fucking stupid it was. They then realised how stupid it was and changed it.
Now, once a bogan is told they're wrong, they fucking scream blue murder until the other person is forced to laugh and say "Sure, go fuck your kid's life up just a little more, Aynjyll-Merseedees"
-
Bogans always put on a massive display of the simplest good manners. Case in point; always standing when some woman enters the room, as if that's supposed to offset the fact they're raping their niece.
Or getting massive tattoos of their kids' names but won't pay maintenance...

I locked a kid up called Wolverine once.
There was a chapter in the book Freakonomics a few years back which discussed a study done on how if an employer is sent an identical CV, one with a "normal" name and one with some sort of retarded made up name, that the employer will choose the normal named potential employee something like 95% of the time. The moral I took from that is that you're setting a kid up to fail for life by giving them a stupid name.
-
@aucklandwarlord I was working with a Jamace and a Stoney last year, one day they will both be featuring in an episode of police 10-7.

Going to be interesting to see if that changes on a generational basis e.g. the odd stupid name gets through to the management position, and suddenly we've got a bunch of Law Firm Partners with names like Anfernee or Princess...
