Polar. A film about a top assassin that is nearing retirement and his employers turn on him. Mads Mikkelson, who I think is a decent actor, Lagertha and bizarrely Matt Lucas. You have to give credit to the Director and producers for making a film that has a pretty good cast, is about assassins, has lost of violence and gun play into a steaming pile of shite. It took some doing but they managed it.

2 Danish hitmen out of 5 stupid endings.

I found it alright, if a bit of a mish-mash.
Coming from a comic book - it was a weird mixture of Scott Pilgrim graphics/style, John Wick violence/revenge, the Professional emotion... then suddenly changing for the last 30 minutes or so into removing all those things.
I would watch the sequel it so obviously set up.

They could have let Johnny Knoxville have a last shag at the start.

Ah - yes, just went back and realised what you're on about... yeah...
And reminded me of my initial thoughts on the first 30 minutes... Mikkelson's Belarus shag had some lovely lady-bumps/shirt-potatoes/blouse-bouncies

You don't need to try and be all wordy and creative....just say tits

“tits” ? I'm unfamiliar with the term.

(And, more honestly, the actual items in question, for some time)

I watched the first 30 mins of Bram Stoker's Dracula last night. That is some weird trippy shit. You have Gary Oldman acting his heart out and then there is...Keanu. With perhaps one of the worst English accents on screen.

Alita Battle Angel: A James Cameron produced and Robert Rodriguez directed manga based movie about a female cyborg killing machine with large eyes. The main character and others are motion captured but it's a live action film.

Better than I thought it would be for a movie long in development and needing to establish its world. I thought it was much better than Mortal Engines in that it's characters and performances were actually interesting.

The big issue with it as a movie is that it's a sequel set-up so hopefully it makes some ok money.

This was the 3rd movie I've ever seen in 3D and it was filmed in 3D. I just don't get it, there was nothing in the 3D that I thought helped the movie.

The cast includes Christophe Waltz, Mahershala "in everything now" Ali, the bad guy from Dead Pool and Jennifer Connelly.

3.3 splattered dogs out 5 creepy human-cyborg hookups.

My takeaway thought from that was... re-watch Azumi and/or Battle Royale instead.

I haven't seen Azumi and it wasn't really like Battle Royale IMHO (I'm not a huge manga/magna style films fan so am only rating it purely as a filmatic experience).

Yeah - my thought process was completely facile, in that it was based on the title, and vaguely "everything from Japan is the same".
Edit: and that I just really wanted an excuse to re-watch Azumi and/or Battle Royale.
Edit 2: which leads me to, in my insomniac state, starting to watch Battle Royale 2... opening with a scene of rugby... not the best choice. "I peed my pants. I peed it all"

I love that flick. Must see it again sometime. Keanus acting was actually pretty good in that I thought but then everyone will look amateurish next to Gary Oldman.

    A Star Is Born

The short version is that this film is a love story following a tried and tested method.

But something about it is really enjoyable. Cooper is outstanding, although I got a bit bored of is slow drunk southern american drawl ... we ended up having to turn the subwoofer off at home for the Cooper / Sam Elliot scenes ... fair dues to him though as it turns out it was him actually singing. Lady Gaga isn't eye candy at all, but she's fucking talented.

4.5 stars out of 5 borns.

    Doomsday (2008)

A virus infects the populace. Scotland is cut off from the UK with a modern version of Hadrian's Wall. 30 years later the virus appears in London and survivors are spotted wandering around in Glasgow. Your heroine is sent off to get the vaccine.

Think Escape from New York, 28 Weeks Later and Mad Max. Not a lot of originality in the script.

Is that the one where the heroine has some weird hi-tech fake eye?
I seem to recall watching it - thinking it wasn't so much a new film, but effectively an extended homage to exactly the 3 films you mention, plus a few more.

The people criticising Polar can line up and take it in turns to get fucked.

Firstly, Madds Mikkelsen is the fucking MAN. Rooting, shooting, stoic death machine. He pounds the shit out of that big-titted skank with a manly poise that most can only dream about. And she's fit as fuck.

Secondly, Lagertha is in a strip club slapping scantily-clad strippers on the arse.

Third... well fuck does anyone care about that? I've given you the two best features of this film AND the major plot points while I'm at it.

Yeah at times it fell off the path a little, but I wasn't expecting an instant classic - its a Netflix film based on a comic book. Don't go in with high expectations you bloody snobs!

old mate Mads has been in Star Wars and Bond which automatically puts him in the legend category along with Christopher Lee but in my opinion his best performance was in the Hannibal series. love his work. Will definitely see this.

    Nude Nuns with Big Guns.

The title alone made me switch channel to see what this is all about. Very high tittie count (there's hardly a moment without)
Not sure if it had a story or just a premise to have a screen full of breasts at every opportunity.
