If we were to see a ban of MJ's music would that also include Jackson 5 stuff? Not like he was fiddling with kids at that age.

That was a suggestion on a podcast I was listening to yesterday. That and the Thriller backing bands (Brothers Johnson, and Toto).

You mean all of those would be banned?
    How about cover versions?

Looking at this on a broader spectrum there must be famous authors and painters who did some seriously messed up shit. Not to mention actors or directors. I mean Roman Polanski raped a 13 year old so does that mean his films should be wiped from history? It's such a can of worms.

@Rancid-Schnitzel Nah, they were offered as "guilt-free" alternatives.

Personally, I'm not going to stop listening to Somebody's Watching Me etc.

Along the lines of this topic, when did "age of consent" come about? The majority of the world is between 16-18 according to a quick search...but Japan!? 13?

@RLx31 and yet relatively low teenage pregnancy rates for Japan (much less than NZ & UK at any rate!)

Although rates only seem to be based on 15-19...

@taniwharugby I think Japan's overall birthrate is low, aren't they having having issues with that or something. I know we have some challenges with our aging population stats, remember reading its similar or worse for Japan. @gt12 ? 😁

Correct. Their population is in decline due to low birth rates

Saw part of the doco last night. Farking hell.

Did no one think it was weird that his main companion during the Bad tour was a 9 year old kid? Or that they stayed in a suite together? Insane.

    Yes. Everyone did.

I find it surprising everyone is now shocked.

The content is a little close to home for me but based off the information provided it would be highly likely Jackson sexually assaulted those children. His behaviour and grooming kinda fits the pedo handbook page for page.

I personally still like his music and will listen to it. The thriller record was one of the first pieces of music that I played over and over and the Bad tape was likely one of my most played albums in my youth.

Was either non-existent or 12 for most of Europe until the late 1800s, when 16 became common.

An interesting/sad read on the 'did they think that at the time' angle:
