And now comes the rain. Definitely helps India. They've had the best of the fielding conditions.

Kane has to own that though, he won the toss. A bit of moisture on the pitch before we bowl isn't terrible.

Wasn't the rain predicted? Why the fuck not bowl?

It's not only the coaching, it'a not only the shit form of some (I'm looking at you Guptil, send your fucking wife home), it's also the captaincy.

They knew rain was expected at lunchtime. Smithy thought the pitch would play better, it seems to be pretty slow. If we had put up a big score DL would be working for us. But true to form we didn't. We should have played to our strengths and given Boult Henry and Ferg a crack early

I don't think the pitch is anywhere near as bad as the crappers have made it look.

Well, we also know the Indians have an excellent bowling attack, so it was never going to be easy - but, this has definitely not been a road.

I'm pretty disappointed we didn't put them in. We've beaten them twice this year by inserting them on difficult pitches and knocking them over. Chance to do it a third time here.

That said, if we can get 250 then if the pitch is tricky - a couple of early wickets and panic will hit the Indian ship!

If we don't get back we could get set India a 20 over score of 148. That's best case scenario.

Tomorrow is full reserve too. So if no restart today continue on from same point tomorrow.

    With similar forecast.

Looking more and more like India have been saved by the rain.

I'm going to start lining up my moral victory speech.

Rain stopped, covers coming off. Just under an hour to get play started for a 20 over chase...unlikely.

Batting for lunch wasn’t so far off after all...

Need to scratch out another 30 runs tonight, then somehow get them 30/3 to see if Dhoni can waste the middle overs, then get him out just as he starts his late acceleration.

So excuse my naivety here but supposing it's a nice day do the BCs go in, bat for four overs then India go in ? is that how it works or will duckworth lewis be playing a part ?

Ok. I'm sacrificing myself for the good of the team.

    Bed now.

I expect you, being the all night crew, to bring us home.

See you on the other side.

    Good Night and Good Luck.

    Damn. Another night's sleep required.

If the weather is good, play just resumes from where it left off. If it’s a wash out, India go through as top qualifier.

Right so we need to go out swinging and get 10 an over at an absolute minimum.

    Not ideal.
