this is another reason why work is way better than home
i have that at home...
Fuck you you fucking fuck.
Sorry... triggered. I have one of those also, exact model, but it's sitting in a mate's basement in London, probably not covered coz he doesn't realise how pricy it is; with all the rest of my shit.
By the time I either head back there, or finally give in and get all my shit shipped back here... it'll be fucked. Actually, I'm sure it is already... I don't imagine anybody thought to run it through the cleaning process before packing it away for 2 years.Oh - and the cleaning is one big reason why I bought that rather than the other options... it's a piece of piss. Give it some water, pop in a cleaning tablet... let it run.

We had a very similar one in the office in London. Worked out that if you ran one shot then topped it with what they called a latte and stopped the milk flow part way through you got a quite drinkable approximation of a FW.
Everybody loves the guy who fucks around with the coffee machine holding everybody up in order get something they deem as drinkable ….

well shit
so, a friend of ours met a dude on tinder during lockdown and for all the common reasons things accelerated very quickly, pretty much living at her house
and its been like something from a movie, he claims he only started taking drugs because of lockdown, no idea how true that is but he'd used them since the day we met, lines of coke on the coffee table around her 7 year old daughter
We only learnt this about six months ago after the first time he got taken by the cops for threatening to kill them and then himself...so that happened 3 times, most recently only a couple of months ago
Over the weekend we learnt shed taken him back, even though theyve only been seeing each this year she saw herself as his partner and so she needed to support him through recovery...even after holding a knife to her throat
Just learnt he's committed suicide, real mixed feelings, obviously not keen on anyone dying or feeling so depressed they kill themselves but relieved he didn't take her or her daughter too
he was a primary school head teacher, this is the most stark example of how fake social media can be, just on sunday night they posted a whole story about going and buying a xmas tree, getting it in the little car, setting it up and decorating and how great xmas was going to be.....and then this the next morning

Shit that is tough. Lucky for her she is still alive. You just don't know about people behind closed doors

Hope your friend gets through this well.
As for the boyfriend. Good riddance.

@antipodean yeah unfortunately some are beyond helping, some dont want to be helped, just fortunate he didnt follow through with the threats to hurt her and her kid too!
Hope your friend has a a good support network, as much of a fluffybunny he may have been, she obviously loved him and will be hurting and no doubt questioning if she could have prevented this, hopefully not putting any blame on herself.
-
@kiwiwomble Fuck!!! Now those are some real issues!!! I would suggest your friend sees a professional for a bit of counselling after that, even if she thinks she feels OK - that's got to affect anyone
-
Really sad story. It’s astonishing how many people I’ve found out this year do Coke on a regular basis. Who has that kind of spare money ? We got offered some at a party a few months back, I was too busy drinking to really want any and having never tried it in 44 years am not keen to start now.
Hope your mate is doing ok. Doing drugs ( and whatever else ) in front of small kids is pretty unforgivable in my opinion so I hope she’s getting the support she needs.
-
She had to call his folks, apparently they weren’t overly surprised so reading between the lines the “I only took up drugs to cope with lockdown” may have been a we fib, apparently they had been pretty estranged and only really got back In touch the last time the cops took him away
Definitely hope she takes up the support he company provides, as a starting point at least as is easy to access

Seconded this. When you dig a bit deeper into people, the number who do it, especially those in high flying city jobs, is really astonishing. Totally agree with your kids comment. That's a terminal event for me.
Hope your mate gets herself through this KW. I suspect in the longer-run, and possibly even the medium term, this is a decent, but still tragic, result.

Doing IT at a reasonable level in finance opened my eyes to its prevalence.

I’m more in the @antipodean camp. Whilst I feel very sorry for your friend and really hope she gets through this, it seems pretty clear she picked a wrong’un. He clearly lied from the outset, abused her and her daughter and put them both in grave danger. Fuck him.

Slight diversion but in one of those programmes recently where they showed the whole chain to source etc of drugs they randomly stopped people in the street and tested 20quid notes. The % that tested positive for coke was staggering. Also testing the readers on the gates at tube stations after people tapping their cards to pay.

I've never done coke as I knew that I would turn into a waster if I started in London.
Don't mind people doing weed and I may try once in a blue moon (once or twice every three or four years sort of thing)
Now that I'm more sensible, I would actually try coke to see what it's all about. It's the only drug I'm curious about (not curious about heroin or meth or LSD etc)
