Just started watching Black Bird on Apple TV. About a drug dealer who has to try and get a confession out of a serial killer in exchange for release from prison. Promising start.

This is excellent so far, really enjoying it.

Mystery Road Origin is a really good Aussie show, follows a young Aboriginal detective investigating some crimes in the outback.

    @Nepia

I think a lot of makes a great TV series it is down to good writing, rather than simply a clever plot and an innovative premise. When you get the two together you generate magic.

We're watching Vigil at the moment and the plot & premise is v. good, but the characters are so identikit (you just knew the submarine commander would be black and the female detective lead have a tortured past) and the dialogue just so cliched it detracts from it.

For me it's the writing that made The Undeclared War enjoyable and FAM so brilliant.

@Victor-Meldrew I just gave up on Rig 45, really similar premise to vigil but even stupider in terms of characters. 3rd episode fucked me off it was so moronic.

I'm going to treat myself to a decent copy of Edge of Darkness from the '80's and give it another watch to see if it's as good as I remember. Was a seminal show.

If it doesn't stand up don't tell me as I shall probably weep.

Don't think the theme tune has changed. That on it's own would make it great.

@Victor-Meldrew A very 80s theme, plus of course that scene where Bob Peck sniffs his own dead daughter's dildo.

Loses points though for not enough Joanne Whalley

I have been trying to think up a suitable rejoinder to that all afternoon

She wore a nurse's uniform - which was probably enough for most people...

Nope - never watched Singing Detective. Seem to recall Emma visiting Craven when he is dreaming or is in hospital. Tracking shot following her legs I think.

    Will start watching it tomorrow.

Good recommendation. One episode in and we're taken with it. Great atmosphere and characters.

    The Undeclared War

    Six-parter about a cyber-war between the UK & Russia.

Bit of a curates egg. Premise and tension was good and the plot believable, though it did go a bit OTT in places. Characters were generally strong & well-written and the main protagonist - a Muslim junior GCHQ employee - was really believable and played brilliantly by Hannah Khalique-Brown. Simon Pegg played the other main role.

Good watch and better than most of this genre - 4/5

I enjoyed this but like Tokyo Vice it had a non ending ending. So if it doesn't get picked up for a second season it will be annoying.

I liked the switch of focus in episode three (I think) and it was ballsy of them to do a whole episode that way.

I also found her to be fairly rounded as a character for a short TV series, at times she was straight up annoying and at others she was very sympathetic.

I agree with @Nepia about the non -ending, actually annoyed the shit out of me as I wanted to know what happened lol!

Plot is good though, I agree I liked how it was playing out, just dragged out a bit long for me though, could have been more fast paced.
    ##spoiler
Also if you're going to have a lesbian relationship on screen with zero tit watch then its not good enough!

    The Terminal List

Enjoyable series, action and tension pretty much from the get go, almost like an episode of 24.

From what I gathered there was a decent amount of consulting with Military for the series, and it did seem to have some realism in some of the action sequences, how they moved, carried weapons etc, but were still a couple of things that were a bit over the top

    ##spoiler
The rock slide, the fact both of them survived that...really?

The final battle at the lakehouse, the fact they didnt have lights on the water, I mean a SEAL, coming to a lake house, he will come by water FFS, and then the dumb arse Sec-Def, sending the guards out of the safe room, where they were safe to protect her...

Who Killed Sara (¿Quién Mató a Sara?)

    On Netflix.

Hell-bent on exacting revenge and proving he was framed for his sister's murder, Álex sets out to unearth much more than the crime's real culprit.

Some good "plot" in this and I'm three episodes in. None better than Carolina Miranda.
