Movie review thread...
-
Righto I'm stuck home on a Friday night and need a awesome movie to watch. Not a so-so or pretty good movie. I want something that I'll finish up and get back on this forum and give it a solid 10 outta 10. There is every chance I have seen all such movies but I'm hoping one has slipped by. From the top of your heads without thinking muh what are your top 5 movies of all time?
Mine:
Forrest Gump
Braveheart
Fight Club
The Matrix
American History X -

Back to the Future, Revenge of the Nerds, Shawshank (yeah, I know everybody blah blah), Beverly Hills Cop, Caddyshack

I wonder what is my favourite genre of flick ...

EDIT - some other recent flicks which I've seen which I absolutely loved.

The Martian

The Big Short

Wolf of Wall Street

And apparently Whiplash is supposed to be awesome. About jazz drumming or something.
-

The Godfather

True Romance

Platoon

I can't think of any more right away. I did a top 10 list one time but can't remember it.

In the top 10 would be Casablanca, Good Will Hunting, LA Confidential, Carlito's Way but not sure if they're in the top 5. Shawshank like MR, because it is just a really good movie.
-

Any early seventies Italian/American film that is centered on NYC will be bloody good. Obviously the Godfather and Godfather 2 are the nuts here.

Star wars
Braveheart

I mainly watch genre movies now. Could have been some Argento and Assayas on the list though.
-
Watched Spies Like Us with my kids last night. Never actually saw it back in the day because the video we rented was dodgy.

Was pretty good. Also a good history lesson for the kids about the Cold War and the threat of nuclear destruction.

I believe Chevy Chase is an all-round fuckwit and looks like absolute shit now. But back in the day he did have a certain something that made him appealing. Certainly more so than the dude in the Vacation remake. -

ended up watching School of Rock with the kids this afternoon on NIck...Is a cool movie

-

Will try and put them in genres as best I can, no way on earth can I name a mere five movies. That's absolutely impossible.( in any case I'm sure to forget a few that should be on the list )

Series/trilogies - Star Wars, Bond, Raiders, Aliens, Back to the Future, Dollars trilogy, Dirty Harry, Terminator

Comedies - Super Troopers, Beverley Hills Cop, Bad Santa, Trading Places, Slammin Salmon, Kingpin, Friday series

Action - Commando, Predator, Heat ( or is this more a drama ? ), Saving Private Ryan, Enter the Dragon, Game of Death ( or are these kung fu movies ? ), Carlitos Way, Scarface

Drama - Schindlers List, Gran Torino, Shawshank Redemption, Deer Hunter

Horror - 28 days/weeks later, Hostel, Event Horizon, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hannibal series
-
Action: Under Siege

Probably the best of the one guy taking on a whole army movies with the added bonus of Erika Eleniaks astonishing tits. -

Took the kids to "The Secret Life of Pets" yesterday. The chance to explore a really cool concept was missed by the writers, who effectively re-made Toy Story with dogs.
