    Con Air.

Quite the intellectual film this, a thinking mans action film. Really good deep diving into the thought processes which go into the criminally minded, with a few emotional and tear jerking moments. Something for the engineers too, as they all work together to solve the problems which come their way. A fascinating delve into psychology, the human brain, team work and endeavour.

A two hour journey of self discovery for some of those that society has abandoned, capped off with an Oscar worthy performance by Nicholas Cage. The letter writing opening scenes between him and his daughter, are utterly moving. Written, and acted, by true genius at the very top of their game.

5 Bunnies out 5 Back In the Boxes.

(I got emotional writing this, it's that good)

and, in last night's "watch with the kids cinema" was...

    Willow

1988!!! Midget helps baby, with help/comic relief from long haired Han Solo.

Look, it's old, so the effects are appalling by today's standards. And it's pre-Rings fantasy, so you know... but you know what, it's a bloody good family movie. My kids loved it (even if the cynical modern little shits did laugh at stuff) and i enjoyed it too.

    Angel Has Fallen

Third in the Has Fallen series. Butler, Pinkett Smith and Freeman have all aged quite badly. Although Freeman is 82 now, so that had to be expected. Vanity posts aside, I really enjoyed it. It's colossal bullshit, and the body count is off the scale, but it's a load of fun, non stop action and even some good humour in it.

They don't even bother with twists. You sort of think he's the bad guy .. then he is .. then about 5 minutes later you think, oh he's the mastermind. And he is. And they don't even bother doing any sort of suspense in the reveal. It just is what it is.

Hopefully more legs left in this series. Big fan of it. Old school.

4.5 dead bad guys out of 5 predictable plots.

    It's a Disaster

Four couples attend a brunch during which a war/ terrorist attack happens and they have to play out what they believe to be their last hours together. Not hilarious, not deeply dark, but amusing enough.

Toy Story 4. Another great film in the series. A classic kid's movie with plenty to keep the adults entertained. 5 creepy ventriloquist dolls out of 5 long lost toys

    Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

I always liked this movie, probably because it was the only movie from the original trilogy that I saw when released. The violence is fairly tame with a PG-13 rating but a decent watch and enough action to entertain. I would rate them Mad Max 2 > Beyond Thunderdome > Mad Max.

    3 Pox-Eclipses out of 5 Tomorrow-Morrow Lands

I even watched the video of "We Don't Need Another Hero". A virtual chocolate fish if you can pick out Dallaglio in the children's choir. πŸ™‚

Once Upon a Time in London

Looking for something to watch, saw this, '30s gangster flick about the rise of organised crime in London. I liked Legend, and i do like a good gangster film, so i gave it a nudge.

It is not a good gangster film. It's really quite shit. There is fuck all in the way of a coherent story. The characters lack the charisma you always attribute to a gangster in a movie. But on top of that, it's terribly made. At least 2 key conversations are not heard, as they play the soundtrack over the top, i n a montage like scene. So you sort of jump forward while missing a link.

2 bashed bookies out of 5 wait, how did that just happen?

    Avoid.

the fight scenes are even worse than an aged Robert De Niro trying to dish out beatings in The Irishman

    This sounds rad:

We review Assassin 33 A.D., a film that is both a shockingly sophisticated meditation on Christian faith and theology, and one where Jesus Christ gets double-tapped in the head by a Tier 1 operator named Brandt..

Watching an 80s thriller. Love that one of the villains looks like a Will Ferrell character.
