@hooroo some great characters in it along the way too.
Been watching The Terror, think about half way through, is decent enough, but these kinds of based on true story stories do annoy me (ie we know this much, but the other 75% of this is made up)
:::
Shouldn't have shown the mutant polar bear or whatever it was, Tubaaq?? CGI was pretty shit, always better when you don't know what something is or assume.
:::
Yup that is part of the reason why Jaws is a master piece ( you don’t get to see the actual shark for half the movie, ok you know it’s a shark though)
And why for a while Lost was pretty good, had no idea what that creature was... until it was revealed as some smoke monster thingJaws is so rewatchable. Absolutely awesome. Robert Shaw is a legend.
If it’s ever missing from anyone’s Arline best movie list they are an absolute joke

@rocky-rockbottom shit, I keep forgetting to get this!! This is the final season too isn't it?

Had a total fangirl moment just before. Lesley-Ann Brandt (Maze from Lucifer) quote retweeted me in a discussion about the word fluffybunny of all things. Lol. I did manage to restrain myself and not squee back that I would totally do her.
Finally after God knows how many years we have something in common.

Watching the Prime Video series on the All Blacks (All or Nothing). Only four episodes in, but some good insights behind the scenes.

Funny to hear Shag giving TJP a rark up for shooting his mouth off and getting the ref offside. And giving both halfbacks shit for yapping too much at training.
Amazing seeing him choking back the tears after the third BIL test. The BIL celebrating next door and Shag has tears in his eyes. That’s why the ABs are the best. Standards are so much higher. -

I thought that someone would do this for me, but it seems that I will have to do it.
What was the discussion about the word fluffybunny?
-
@snowy Quite often, me (and other historical romance authors) get accused of inaccuracy due to language - they tell us that fluffybunny and fuck are modern words. fluffybunny is first recorded in use in the 13th century, fuck is a bit later, early to mid 1500s.
I provided a link to a great article written by a British sex historian about the etymology of the word. Was quite funny - some American woman replied to both Lesley and I saying we needed a bar of soap in our mouths. Not sure why US people get so pissy over the word fluffybunny when fuck and pussy are fine. Shrug.

Might have to put that in the thread of learning something new everyday.
Did fluffybunny have the same meaning as in modern usage anatomically? Assume that it wasn't used as a form of abuse?
Fuck has also evolved but was it purely a sexual act originally?
Agreed that those words are no worse than others. Who ranks these things? Is cock worse than willy? Weird.
-
@snowy not always a form of abuse, just add a word to the front to change the meaning...
fuck off you Fucking fluffybunny (best to fuck off)
Haha yeah hes a Useless fluffybunny (almost a term of endearment)
Hes a Good fluffybunny (no better compliment?)Whereas cock...cant have the same said can it...good cock? probably only in certain movies.
-
@snowy fluffybunny has always been a term for lady parts. The abuse aspect of fluffybunny is pure misogynistic bullshit - same as calling someone a pussy. it's a reference to a female-related thing, so therefore 'weak' or 'less than'.
Logically speaking, it's even stupider when you think of what lady parts handle - childbirth, sex etc. A cock gets whacked and the guy is curled up on the ground.
And yes fuck, and fucker were always about the sex act in the past.

No, not always. Can be used in colloquial language like fuck can.
It is unlikely that people walked around saying what a good fluffybunny King John was after signing the Magna Carta though (the expression - I have no idea whether he was a good fluffybunny or not).

Would suggest that being called a cock or dick is much the same? Nothing sexist about it? Just terms of abuse to use sexual organs to describe people that you don't like?
Interesting history though.

Hardly. When do women get referred to as cocks?

Point was that referring to people as genitalia isn't always gender specific (don't want to go down that road - I'm already confused about other peoples gender identity crises). Men do get referred to as fluffybunnies as well though.
Thinking about it for male parts, cock, penis, dick, knob, bellend, many more I'm sure. There aren't so many for women that I can think of...

Not sure that is true. Derived from this:
pusillanimous
adjective
showing a lack of courage or determination; timid.Cats were labeled pussy. Female parts got called that afterwards (furry, warm and soft maybe) language and connotations evolve of course but "scaredy cat", timid animals are probably the origin of calling someone a pussy. Nothing misogynistic, related to women or suchlike.
Yes, the origin of expressions and words interests me.

The Americans.
Consistently one of the best shows each season.
Wonder what the main actors will get up to next?
