    Anyone tried Eternaut?

Going to give it a whirl today

    The Eternaut (TV Series 2025– ) ⭐ 7.4 | Action, Adventure, Drama

Pretty enjoyable so far, acting seems good and probably pretty accurate as to how humans behave. I am undecided on the bugs though, but I guess that is no more of a stretch than fungi infected humans or zombies.

I wanted to like this heaps more than I am so far. I usually love post apocalyptic stuff.

I'm finding this show quite hard going, whenever they're outside is pretty hard to follow due to the conditions and I'm struggling a bit to engage with some of the characters. The bad things have just made an appearance though so will hopefully get better.

The bugs have appeared and the weather has cleared up. Show is much better now

I have started Murderbot, enjoying it so far. Quite a bit of humour which is good, basically a Robot trying to protect stupid humans who itself hacks its programming and becomes more humanlike. Only major downside is its one episode a week and they are only 22 minutes long. In an age of 1 hour long shows it feels like its over before it begins.

I think it's been mentioned multiple times in this thread. 😉

    Dying for sex

This was one I watched with the wife.

Michelle Williams gets diagnosed with terminal cancer and when her husband/partner still won't have sex with her (after several years of treatment for breast cancer she'd beaten) she leaves him and goes to discover her sexuality.

Michelle and David Rache were both good in this, Sissy Spacek also stars, along with Rob Delaney who is amusing as her neighbour (also looks like a fill sized Peter Dinklage)

There are plenty of genuine laugh out loud moments, overall is a decent watch too, but it is only a single season, so if you or whoever you watch these types with is emotional, you know how it ends.

    Andor
Read a fairly interesting comment/article somewhere about how 1 entire episode progressed the plot without anybody actually stating what was happening. Just... everything was implied. And then compared that to everything else on TV today - which I think has been mentioned here previously.
Then I go to try and watch S02 - and yeah, I realise I've already watched E01... but drunk/stoned. It's fucking hard to watch/understand (Edit: - no - remember) when constantly under-the-influence. And possibly the best litmus test reminding me I should "do better".

Another-Edit - the comment/article I referenced - mentioned Reacher as a stark opposite. I ended up watching Reacher S03E01 tonight instead of attempting Andor S02E02.
    Polar opposites.

    @Kruse

Yes. The difference between series1 and then 2 & 3 of Reacher was that on the former they let the story develop instead of inserting inane dialogue to explain the story.

S3 started with a bang, developed into a whimper and ended in a cliche.

Just started Landman. Jesus fucking Christ, that finger scene, only caught a glimpse before getting my hand in front of my face... didn't think to fucking block my ears though. Not good after too many whisky's last night.

    All finished with The Eternaut

Nicely set up for season two and got more interesting and compelling as it went on.

In saying that I hope it actually gets made. Doesn't seem to take much for shows to get cancelled without any notice these days.

I think Netflix announced season 2 would be happening not long after it first aired.
Sounds like a fascinating comic series too.

Mobland - all in all, solid series.

Be interesting to see how they tidy it up (unsure if it wil be set up for another series)

Nice little cameo for Toby Jones too, always quality.

Regarding Maeve, makes it too easy to try and point her as the rat, although I think she craves the power, so if she is, there is a bigger plan. Also wouldnt put it past Conrad to be pulling the strings given how unhinged he seemed in his interactions with Richie & Jaime, with no fear of potential consequences.

Given the fact we assume Eddie was just told he is Conrads son (which seemed clear a few eps back) I do find it odd how much Maeve seems invested in him, or maybe just a ruse as she using him to create chaos toward whatever her end goal is, particuarly given how she doesnt want anything to do with Seraphina who is also not biologically hers.

I'm a sucker for anything post apocalyptic as I'm sure you know. Always interesting to see how they do the shows/movies even though they pretty much all follow the same basic premise first set out in the classic novel Day of the Triffids

They usually follow a lone survivor who hooks up with/clashes with other groups, this one was slightly different in that they were all in it together from the start.

I'm assuming the bugs are kind of drones and the other Aliens are the real brains behind everything ? That one that we catch a glimpse of at the end would be a hell of a piano player

So Im sure Im not the only one who continued to watch The Last of Us to see how it played out. Season ended this week like a limp dick. Started well in first couple of episodes and then went south very quickly and stayed there. What a waste on potentially what could have been @MiketheSnow well predicted.

Have been planning on stockpiling some of these but the fern and social media have given me second thoughts.

I know what happens to Joel, that there is enough to put me off

Also all the backlash against Ellie as a character and the actor her ( them ) self.

Coming out as non binary is so heroic, so woke blah blah blah but good grief there are some absolutely feral comments on all the platforms about her/him/it/them.

People are sick of this whole movement and are really showing it.

The character becoming irritating as fuck hasn't helped either by the sounds of things.

But as per my post above it has a post apocalyptic setting with unique creepy monsters. That will be enough to get me at least giving it another go.
