    Great little walk down memory lane this thread ... a few comments ...

    Davidav - I enjoyed the big high trousered 'merican. didn't agree with all his opinions (except the Toeava one which I was fully on board with), but thought he added value

    Phooey - can't agree with you @Snowy ... he was even more combatitive in the flesh! Good bloke though, if not a little misunderstood ...

    RedBeard - didn't he bin the fern after the Philpott treatment?

    MrMike, Gibbit are sadly missed for their humour. Many a LOL moment whilst they were on board.

    I missed a lot of the Aussie posters, so took residence on GAGR for a while. That forum has a different vibe to it though in my view - things are taken far too seriously ... or maybe I just didn't get it ... dunno. Redbull, cyclopath etc are great additions to any forum, and they are sadly missed here. LeeGrant seemed like such a nice chap, he was never going to last as was far too nice & balanced.

    I put Lee Grant and Lindommer very much in the fair weather catagory. When Australia were doing well in the early 2000s I was really into fantasy rugby so I’d scan a bunch of different message boards to get team updates etc and Lee Grant was on every single one of them and I mean every single one pretty much . He doing a fair bit of trolling/gloating too.
    When it turned to shit for Australia that was scaled back to pretty much g and g .
    Lindommer is a similar vintage to Grant and last time I recall he showed up here was after the tahds won the title .

    I don’t have a problem with winding people up when your teams on top but if you crawl under a rock when they aren’t you don’t deserve to be given any respect.. The guys who do stick it out when the abs are beating their team and get to give it back when they beat us add a lot to the place .
    Fairweather fans ? Yeah nah ,they can fuck off for good.

    They are annoying but its understandable. They're foreigners on a kiwi forum and its hard to have any banter if your teams aren't competitive

    It's kind of the reverse for the kiwis on a kiwi board. For example there's a reasonable number of NZ regular's who drifted away after the 2011 RWC. Once that monkey was off the back there was less negative banter for them to enjoy?

    Or look at the Blues fans currently. They are more engaged about games, players, boardroom shit, B teams than other fans right now. A decade ago the Chiefs fans were more engaged talking about Foster, DSW etc
    Then there's the Cantabs. A huge amount of our traffic comes from Christchurch. A disproportionate amount compared to the number of posts from Cantabs. There's a shitload of them reading but they aren't motivated to post as much

    @Duluth I get that to some degree but those two in particular stand out for their absence when Australia returned to their natural place as whipping boys.

    @jegga Jeeze I don’t.

    Lee Grant all class.

    Lindommer has his own version of where the line was and regularly moved it. Impossible to debate with.

    @jegga

    I’m with @MajorRage Lee Grant (Aussie) was generally a pretty level headed guy and was happy to debate stuff, usually rugby and usually sensible. Not sure about his posting elsewhere but maybe he was responding to the particular level of debate. You only have to look at what goes on in an HYS on the BBC rugby pages on anything to do with either England or Wales. It’s fucking awful. If I were to post on there I’d be a complete fluffybunny rather than the occasional fluffybunny that I feel I can be on here. And no I will not accept any gainsaying on that topic.

    Having met both Lee Grant and Lindommer in person, and observed their posting here and elsewhere, I can confirm they're far more level headed than the memory some have of them. Not without their flaws, of course.

    Let's remember that one's opinion of others is viewed through a tinted prism, and as @Catogrande had implied: when you walk into a room filled with people of one nationality, your opinion on victory or defeat is likely to be chewed up in the mob mentally, and spat out.

    Short of utter obsequious drivel, that is.

    And let us also not forget what a pack of insufferable fluffybunnies rugby fans are when their team has a decision go against it.

    Oh, there will be gainsaying .

    It’s interesting how people can look at the same thing and see something different. On a South African forum I used to lurk on Grant showed up, in those days the wallabies and boks could guarantee beating each other at home but not away. Anyway he was gone for a couple of weeks after the wallabies lost and showed up with some condescending waffle of a match report and the posters were very tired of his bullshit and their attitude to him was “ where the hell have you you and now they you’re here you can fuck off again “,
    I thought it was interesting because he vanished from here not long after .

    Another Aussie troll who used to infest forums was JPO he showed up on the Haka forum and was ranting away and didn’t realise his email which was also his work email with his name on it was visible to everyone.
    He doxxed himself , he worked for some sports radio station in Sydney . He still posts over at pr where he is loathed.

    Ah well, maybe we see things differently. I can only go on what I saw with Lee Grant on here and in truth we have some good Aussie posters on the fern, @barbarian @Mick-Gold-Coast-QLD for instance. Obviously on the debit side of the ledger there’s @NTA but one takes the rough with the smooth.

    @jegga that'll learn ya for visiting those other forums...the time I spend on here is bad enough, which was the only interactions I had with Lee, and found him a great contributor, that Lindommer guy was a fluffybunny though.

    Agreed , he showed up after the tahds win and actually called me out in his gloating post . I tried to respond but one of the mods blocked me from the thread .

    The only other forum I visit these days is pr , my god there’s some messed up people there. Ghost of Nepia and Uncle FB in particular stand out , glad they don’t post here.

    Lee Grant is a legend. Had some health problems lately I believe, so he's stepped back from the online world. It's a shame - there weren't too many around that had the depth of knowledge he did. Could tell a story about Colin Meads in one sentence, and then some gun 15-year old running around for Riverview in the next.
