No comments at all about the economy so far.
edit; there we go. One freaking sentence.
The modelling they got obviously showed there is no alternative to get this nailed and soon. Economic effects of this vs economic effects of overwhelmed health system, etc.
Is construction considered an 'essential service'? I susepct not, so probably everything stops for a month. Scary scary times

woner if there has been any discussions at the highest levels about loan repayments and the like....
Businesses have to service loans for vehicles, buildings, assets etc, while being unable to earn money, families have to keep paying mortgages, power etc (which will go up due to being at home) while some of them wont be getting paid.

@taniwharugby I'd imagine everything is on the table - or multiple tables more likely across many Govt departments. But this is just so far reaching with so many really critical touch points its crazy.

yeah one of the clients I went to visit this morning (No handshakes, >2m distance) had been speaking ot his bank, was doing the business rebate stuff...as I said to him, the interest will be the killer for some, even if the banks do give payment holidays.
Wow, still struggling to get my head around this!!

@taniwharugby yep, we have a confirmed casualty, our economy.

I wonder what this means for the likes of kiwifruit in the early stages of picking and packing. Essential workers?
If there is any bright side, in four weeks time the Chinese economy will be even further back online in terms of trading partners. I understand that South Korea hasn't gone offline, and other economies in Asia who've been hit first might be further through it too.
I feel like I'm clutching at straws a bit, but there has to be some sliver to look forward to economically.

@voodoo They've said that stocks are fine, because the supplies keep coming in; they just can't keep up with re-filling the shelves, because of the panic buying. So I'm hopeful they'll be able to make the deliveries. We've a delivery scheduled for Saturday.
