I may have missed it but I can't see any mention from you golf tragics of Mickelson becoming the oldest ever major winner - one months shy of his 51st birthday?

Pretty crazy and from 115th in the world rankings so not fancied in any way - his 6th major and almost 8 years since the last one (and over 17 years since his 1st).

Shades of Jack winning the Masters

It was an odd final round, neither Brooks nor Louis really fired a shot, and Mickelson could afford to play within himself down the stretch.

As such there wasn't really a 'moment'. It was just solid play from Phil while his challengers kept making mistakes.

FFS he’s hardly geriatric at 50.

Barely any physical disadvantage and experience wise he wins.
The only non injury reason other older guys stop winning is because they get comfortable, rich and lazy

@kiwipie it did, the last one that people went off on, I wasnt bothered by it.

And in other news (I suspect this is mostly American fans, there are some right nutters on the PGA pages hate for de Chambeau, hate for Koepka, for Reed, for the PGA after they pulled an event from Trumps course)

Study shows golf fans are angriest sports fans on social media. Water also wet

We probably didn't need a study to confirm this, but now it's officially official.

Is he allowed to move dead foliage, or is courting trouble by fiddling so close to the ball?

Yeah, it was telling when Phil had the longest drive of the day. Does age mean anything in golf?

Yeah, it was rather odd. Koepka made so many mistakes, it's amazing he ended up even close.

@siam you can move dead foliage, but if the ball moves, you incur a penalty

Not as much as other sports. Phil might be a little slimmer these days, but he hardly looks like he works out. He is fit and well, unlike Tiger with his bad back (pre-accident Tiger I mean). A lot of it is mental, he seems to really enjoy competing

@tim did you hear what Bryson was saying?

Was odd it sounded like he had metal spikes on, I thought everyone was all soft spikes?

Bit amusing really as I think plenty think he is a bit of a douche too!

It's pretty funny if they're chummy, a dick move if not! Judging by the reaction, I'd say they're not..

@voodoo I did a google yesterday trying to find out what the comments might be. Couldn't find anything but there were plenty of links suggesting bad blood going back a few years.

@dogmeat I've seen a few places state it was similar to what was described above.

Am wondering if this is all a bit scripted.

They'd be a great pairing for the Ryder Cup though
