Agree. I would have voted to change to either Red Peak or a good black and white fern if one or the other had won the first vote.

Key has come out of this looking good (from the UK from what I have seen) and Little very poorly. In some ways Red Peak seems to has saved this whole process.

What a great flag

Red Flag's designer has said the flag uses the shape of traditional weaving patterns, and "suggests a landscape of alpine ranges, red earth, and black sky", while referencing the Maori creation myth of Ranginui and Papatuanuku, also known as Rangi and Papa.

It also highlights New Zealand's position near the international dateline, which makes it one of the "first to hold the light of new day", he said.

I guess it's made some (myself and a few others I know) more interested to vote in the referendum. The engineering logo makes a really a sh*t flag imo.

Speaking as an outsider, and realising that I have no relevance in this at all, what I will say is that all the new options look to be compromises (whoever it was that posted the Homer Car earlier in the thread was spot on). There is nothing there to me there shouts out This Is New Zealand. I include Red Peak in this. The old saying that if a committee sat dow to design a horse you'd end up with a camel springs to mind.

From what I've read on this thread (and I have to admit, all my research is from this thread), the process does seem a little arse about face and is likely to result in maintaining the status quo whilst costing a shed load of money.

Opportunity. Wasted.

Thanks for your last post Winger.

Seriously, looking at tit has firmed up my position.

Not trying to be clever - I like red peak the least of all 5.

and surprisingly I now think I would take any of the other 4 (with all their many faults) over the current flag.

So what about a name change then eh?

Aotearoa over a misspelt dutch province

Almost the perfect TSF post, short, no research, a link that may or may not be relevant, off topic in off topic, BUT no reference to titties for the 100% score
