Hastings very unlucky; a very bad pass from the reserve halfback gave a T'dale player the chance to kick the ball ... hitting a Hastings player, meaning a knock by Hastings.

One final scrum and Taradale kicks the ball out.

Taradale are the Maddison Trophy winners and I have to say it, it's well-deserved despite it being a game of two halves. They're winning the double this year.

    Full time: Hastings 15 - 21 Taradale

He'd probably make a good commentator. Knowing the laws gives him an advantage over many of them..

He’s been bloody good to listen to in the Lions matches. Keeps his gob shut unless he has something of value to say or is asked by Warburton (also good). You get a slightly different viewpoint that makes you consider things differently.

Heard him on last nights game. Gave an excellent insight on what goes thru the Ref's mind at different stages of the game - which most of which wouldn't be remotely aware of. Great stuff.

    Agreed

    Best performance of the evening

Hey @Snowy, Dan conjured up some delicious phrasing for you.

Yes he did. I get the feeling that he might not know my rep around here and what me going for dinner means though.

I have had such a shit of a day I almost feel capable of that.

Fortunately I also have Sky and will probably get a takeaway... from a shop.

Now. To digress to Rugby Nation.

I watched this for first time this year.

What the hell. It's now only 30 minutes long.

I usually like(d) this program during the international windows. Seeing all the games short highlights, even the more obscure ones. Ire v Jap and Arg v Rom were reduced to 1 try as they segue to the commercial break.

@crazy-horse said in Kieran Read has retired from professional rugby:

Who thinks Barrett (IIRC he was the kicker at the time?) would have gotten the kick if the penalty stood? Pity we will never know, but that would have been a hell of a lot of pressure for someone who is not the most consistent kicker. I wonder if he felt an element of relief when it was overturned?

That thought has crossed my mind a few times! But yes, the overall summary was

Test 2: By the letter of the law it's a penalty, so I must issue a penalty and cannot overturn. Favour - Lions.
Test 3: By the letter of the law it's a penalty, but I'm going to overturn the penalty after being guided to by the referee who was adamant a week ago that he could not overturn it . Favour - Lions.

Sorry, thats not sport, error or poor judgement.

    He did

Probably more of the RC thing, but after watching Japan v lions, it may not have been super close but Japan plays an attractive style of rugby, fun to watch and I honestly think they’re not a million miles of being more competitive, they’re results In the last couple of RWC obviously promising too

Yeah, I wonder if basing both the Drua and Moana Pasifika out of Japan would have been a good idea.

They could have set it up with a 50/50 split of players from Japan versus MP and Drua, and been able to help out three second tier nations.

If there were 50% locals in the team, JP fans would turn out too, and there would be a place for the Himeno's etc to get better.

@gt12 well either revert to a genuine educational purpose, or scrap the entire pretence and the kids can go from HS into pro leagues or development programs.

Its ludicrous to have kids enter college for the purpose of playing sports with no intention to graduate legitimately and also get paid. They may as well go from Fairmont High and get recruited straight to XYZ pro football or basketball program.

    Unbelievable Jeff!

At the very, very bottom of the EFL, after 96 years in and four years away, the team that once beat Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United 6 - 0 has returned to League 2.

And somewhere, Jeff Stelling is having a brilliant night after a nail biting game 😂

It sounded like a real thriller but I had lost interest when we went out to Torquay in the semis when I'm sure all their goals were either offside or handled. A few scandals in the league this season where certain clubs furloughed some of their players and then bought new ones to replace them! Clubs mentioned were Chesterfield, Stockport and Barrow so at least it seems like Hartlepool were clean.

Which of course reminds me of the day that Hartley and Poole scored for Hartlepool

Hartlepool 2-1 Notts County Hartlepool 2-1 Notts County

Peter Hartley and James Poole score as Hartlepool clinch their second home win of the season by beating Notts County.
