@booboo Jeremy Wells aka Newsboy, one time partner in crime with Mike Havoc
I'm not sure how this places him even remotely in Max Key territory....
@Baron-Silas-Greenback as a noted funny guy on this forum I'm sure you're even funnier than in the 90s. Have they asked you to appear on Seven days yet?
In more breaking news sounds like Hilary isn't too happy with Paul who has become worse than Trump overnight by the looks of things.....

Pretty pathetic how one new organisation has started a crusade against another news organisations ratings winner.

Are they owned by the same parent company now? For some reason, I thought they were.
I can happily say that I don't get to see any of these types of shows as I am eather at work or on the farm after work. Earliest I would get in is around 8 when all these types of shows have wound up for the night. Thank goodness

Different parent companies, Herald started the crusade as they hate Mediaworks.. as they compete for that slot on the radio. Barry... well she is just a self important tool.

@Baron-Silas-Greenback cracked me up see her gush over Kaino last week when he was on after all the slatings she has been giving anything rugby the previous 6 weeks!

Just got a call from some poor bastard trying to drum up subscriptions for the Dompost, didn't actually sound too surprised when I said no one in my house would be prepared to pay for it.
I'll give the dompost management one thing, if they are mounting campaign to drive down their readership they are doing a bloody good job of it. 85% of their editorials are negatively whining about national, they also fap about the green party to a degree that would make John Campbell proud every chance they get . -
Yelp reviews are now news ...

@Tim Social media seems to have replaced NZPA as Granny Heralds main "news" source.
Not someone posting a picture of an unfolding "real" news story but the "what air hostesses think about...." stories which seem to run in one form or another every week.
I'm waiting for their news lead "Google Maps has updated Street view for Sunnynook"....

Not only "Much loved" but 'World famous" as well ! I can't believe I've gone my whole life without ever having a dump at this place.....@Hooroo isn't it just up the road from you ? any good dumping yarns from there ?

Decent article from the spinoff I thought ...
Couldn't agree more with that writeup, exactly what I was arguing from the get go. But I'm sure the morally outraged are all patting themselves on the back following his conviction. The WRU and the Police were weak as piss on this which is bloody disappointing. For once I'd love an organisation to say "you know what, a bunch of assholes screaming as loud as they can on social media doesn't necessarily represent the population at large, so get fucked, we're standing by our original decisions (in this case not to tear up his contract and not to appeal the decision).
The permanently outraged and offended can get fucked.
-
@No-Quarter To be fair they may actually represent the population. But they don't represent the population who actually know all the facts and were present in the hearing. That is much more finite, and frankly, all that really matters.
-
@MajorRage yeah for sure, but I actually think they often don't represent the population. Twitter, Facebook etc are bloody political and are quick to ban people that hold a different opinion to the morally outraged, so most people won't even bother trying to put a different perspective on it. The morally outraged also go crazy if someone disagrees with them and does everything in their power to identify that person and have their livelihood destroyed.
Agree 100% about the people with the facts being the only people that matter. Why can't we trust the experts? Why is everything a fucking conspiracy?
-
As an example of what I'm talking about, the media discovered and reported that the headmaster of St Pats Silverstream wrote a character reference for Losi Filipo. A fucking character reference, which is not in any way condoning what he did, but writing a letter that outlines his dealings with Losi which helps to give the judge some idea about what kind of person he is, and whether what he did was out of character. Which helps with the sentencing. Which is 100% standard in just about any case like this.
The morally outraged went crazy and called for him to lose his fucking job and MSM gave them a nice loud voice, after which he tried to retract the character reference to get them off his back.
Instead of him trying to retract his statement, I think St Pats as an organisation should have come out and told those idiots to get fucked. And perhaps explained what a character reference actually is.
-
but that would require people to listen to learn a bit....
“When you talk (angrily tap your keyboard), you are only repeating what you already know. But if you listen (read facts), you may learn something new.”
