    Justice League

Finally, a DC film that was a hoot to watch. Sure, the SF on the bad guy weren't much chop, and it was a fairly predictable, unthreatening scenario for our heroes (when two of the five are effectively gods), but this was as good as a lot of the Marvel gear IMHO.

I thought the levity was actually a plus. Barry Allen made that movie for me with his totally awkward shit and wide-eyed innocence. And of course, I was watching Gal Gadot thigh's just as closely as Mrs TA was watching those shirtless freakozoids. She is stunning.

2.7 out of 3 mother boxes

I thought the money shots were Gal's arse in those leather pants.

@bovidae I prefer a little more on the arse. The thighs, though...

Late to the party but another big thumbs up for Thor. I went into it in a shitty mood but it soon turned me, lots of laugh out loud moments some where I was clearly the only kiwi in the theatre as I was the only one chortling. You'd have to say Waititi has made it big now

Tupac Shakur's cinematic debut. "It's like a cross between Goonies and Texas Chainsaw Massacre."

@bones Cool, I'm going to give it a go.

Written and directed by the guy who wrote the screenplays for Sicario and Hell or High Water. Not in the same league behind the camera as those directors though.

    Agreed. Worth a watch.

@Tim Although I don't love on Hell or Highwater and Sicario, I think they're both decent films but a bit overhyped. But, if those are your type of films it has elements of both.

It was pretty shit. A writer directing a film from a script that wasn't his best.

    5/10.

@tim sorry about that! I thought the ending was all a bit rushed.

American Made - Tom Cruise as Barry Seal, a former commercial airline pilot who starts running guns for the CIA and then drugs for Pablo...apparently based on a true story, however Uncle Google reckons it has been embellished somewhat, although where the CIA is involved, who knows.

    Decent enough watch.

3 lucky escapes out of 5 hidden caches of loot

American Assassin (sheer coincidence I watched these over the weekend) MIchael Keaton and a couple of other younger guys that have been in movies recently.

Again, one of your typical sit back, turn off brain kind of action films, a young lass by the name of Shiva Negar is pretty tidy!

3 lucky escapes out of 5 dead baddies

    Seems our thoughts are aligned.

I'll watch this through the week instead of doing uni work... Looks promising.

Watched a cpl of movies last weekend whilst the ball n chain was away.

Hacksaw Ridge ... a movie of 2 halves. First half is the lead in and character intro - a little slow but required. Second - FULL ON war action. Seriously. Hardcore. Absolutely amazing filmography and story.

5 guys saved out of 5 Vince Vaughn's in a serious role.

Eye In The Sky ... I enjoyed this film - appealed to my problem solving side. Quite a strong cast and good story line. Reminded me of margin call in the way it's all about a 12 hour shift (also a fave movie of mine).

4 loaves of bread out 5 Alan Rickmans

I just saw Justice League and I think everyone here seems to be in the same boat. It's an enjoyable movie, admittedly with a few problems but most blockbusters do. I don't get a lot of the criticisms... I think there just is no good will from the critics because they were so disappointed in Man of Steel and BvS. That said, this type of movie is what it is... I just get a kick out of seeing these characters on the big screen, especially Batman and that's good enough for me.

I agree with @Kirwan that they finally get Superman right. The mustache thing wasn't as bad as I was expecting but the one scene I noticed it in totally took me out of the movie. Steppenwolf, the villain, wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I get sick of these save the world plots and wish they kept the stakes smaller sometimes, but this is the tent pole super hero team up so I understand that the stakes need to be really high. I won't let aliens-from-outer space-destroying-the-world fatigue ruin in for me and I'll judge it on its own merits.

Yeah, I really enjoyed Eye in the Sky, and the other drone movie that was out that same year? Good Kill I think? Different movie styles but both decent. Rickman was a great actor.

I rewatched Hacksaw Ridge again two night ago after seeing it in the cinema, I think you're two guys saved too much on your rating. On second viewing it's an awesome action movie bookended by mawkish tripe on either side. And the jesus shot at the end is even more annoying second time round. And as good as the action scenes are I'm also re-watching Band of Brothers again (up to Bastogne tonight) and they don't meet that gold standard.
