@Godder glad they changed the headline, earlier today I saw they said it was sent to a school girl, and kinda implied she was on the young side. That is some shitty reporting right there. Not that the new summary is overly flash, but absolute seediness and cringe af behaviour like that isn't illegal.

Given the current rumours doing the rounds (that I assume we aren’t talking about) there was a possibly telling comment from Winnie in his TV interview this morning declaring that he has never allowed anyone in his party to attack another politician on the basis of health or their partner or marriage.
It came out of the blue but came across as a planned commeoI read those to be more about the whisper campaign about his health following medical leave a year or so ago and then again a week ago and was starting to come up again in the Q&A interview and others.
The other (non-Winston) rumour just seems too far fetched to be true - at least the fully flowered version.
Both raise major questions about what is in and out of bounds how the media would handle things. Messy.

This Falloon thing is just grotty as hell. Judith must want to put all their balls in a vise right now.
I'm curious about this other rumour, while also being over politics. Feels like we've had a year's worth of shit in the past few weeks, and the election is still to come.

How much could we save by not having an Election. Let's just all agree that Labour will get another term and let's look forward to the 2023 Election.
Someone has to keep those guys doing the billboards in pay. Every Monday morning they must open their emails with dread..

Labour a few months out from the last one polled at less than 25%, and changed to their third leader in a short period.
Nothing is a slam dunk with our system and voters.

That is true but I still think Labour will walk this election.
In my eyes it's a foregone conclusion

Not disagreeing with that, just that it's a waste of time to have it. Same thing could have been said last time.
If NZ First and the Greens don't make the 5% threshold it could be very interesting.

I would love the Greens not to make that threshold! Love it!

But we don't know if they will be able to govern alone, or who the makeup of any coalition would be. At its height even the highly popular John Key government didn't command enough of the vote to govern alone

I need to elborate that I don't really think we should give Labour three more years without an election. I was more suggesting that Cindy will be our prime minister after this election one way or another.

You could make some coin - Betfair had Labour at $1.17-$1.20 to supply the next PM. Could drop a lazy few thousand on there ... for some folk could be nice loss insurance

But if NZF or the commies fall short would that only leave two parties in Parliament? (although are National setting up ACT to get Epsom? ) So one should be able to govern alone.
if Greens miss out, it'll probably be because Labour are polling so strongly. So that woudl be a straight shootout between a strongly polling Labour, and Nat+Act. Can't see Labour being lower, but goddamn 2 weeks has been an eternity in Politics this year, and we're still 60 days away...

I think we're all being a bit harsh on Falloon. After all, you have to give him some credit for all this. He was only holding the biosecurity portfolio for National for a couple of months, yet in that short space of time, he was able to unearth a massive pest.
