Why does Conway's bat sound like it's made of aluminium?

The pitch mic sounds off the bat were odd

Don't think it was one mic at one end though. All of Conway's shots sounded tinny or like there was a slight crack in the bat. The other bats sounded normal.

When I was watching, before I fell asleep, they all sounded awful. Latham's sounded the worst.

@crucial I've seen UK job application forms that ask for the details of any social media accounts that you've used in the last ten years and remain open to public view.

Looks like Robinson did sanitise his account but forgot about deleting replies to his then mates from 2012/3.

Yeah, that's fine (as long as they don't want your TSF handle).
But that's for their due diligence. If they still employ you and something ancient is then brought to light is that your fault?
However, if they do employ you and the contract states that pre-employment SM is grounds for discipline then fair enough. It's up to you to do some purging.
Then what about things found on wayback engine?
I probably have some appalling stuff in the pre moderated TSF days.

The Daily Mail have found some racist and sexist tweets by Ollie Robinson (from 9 years ago when he was 18) that the ECB won't be happy about:

Ollie Robinson's racist and sexist tweets emerge during debut
Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

Fucking hell, we're setting ourselves a pretty low bar for outrage these days aren't we.

Imagine having to read through that many years of tweets to dig for dirt.

I was going to suggest that someone had this lined up for him from years ago just waiting for the chance. But @sparky 's reply makes as much sense. (BTW #nobooboo πŸ™‚ )

I wouldn't drop Taylor from this series or the final, though I think there are some broad parallels in his recent form to late career Ponting possibly starting to show.

Regardless, I think he will get to finish his career on his terms.

Conway is absurd. Everything looks so easy for him

Amazingly ( well, to me at least ) he’s the twelfth BC to get a ton on debut. That seems like an awful lot of players !

    1930 - J E Mills - 117 vs England
1965 - Bruce Taylor - 105 vs India (took a 5 wi as well, only time in Test history this has happened)
    1973 - Rodney Redmond - 107 vs Pakistan
    1988 - Mark 'Paddy' Greatbatch - 107* vs England
    1999 - Matthew Sinclair - 214 vs West Indies
    2001 - Lou Vincent - 104 vs Australia
    2002 - Scott Styris - 107 vs West Indies
    2010 - Kane Williamson - 131 vs India
    2013 - Hamish Rutherford - 171 vs England
    2014 - James Neesham - 137* vs India
    2017 - Tom Blundell - 107* vs West Indies
    2021 - Devon Conway - 136 vs England*

Only one all timer on that list, possibly two.

Just to take the list on a slightly different tangent on the stats, just looking at those who have got a 100 at lords on debut it is also a short list.

    1893 - 107 β€” Harry Graham (AUS)
    1969 - 107 β€” John Hampshire (ENG)
    1996 - 131 β€” Sourav Ganguly (IND)
    2004 - 112 β€” Andrew Strauss (ENG)
    2007 - 126* β€” Matt Prior (ENG)
    2021 - 132* β€” Devon Conway (NZ)

Im glad you added the exception otherwise I would suspect you're a cyborg πŸ™‚

I do remember as far back as the Ganguly game interestingly another famous Indian also debuted in that match (at no 7) ?

a virtual chocolate fish for anyone who can guess correctly without google?

@majorrage tomorrow! In the media center box as well woo

Is that the UFO thing? I notice they have built a couple of stands either side now so it doesn't look quite as prominent

Yeah the alien pod thing, although now I have the tickets I see there's been a reshuffle to the Tavern Stand boxes instead. The new stands either side of the media center look great on TV, well see how they look live.

Great stuff by Conway. I can’t help think though we’ve become like Scotland in rugby: always with a few SA imports in the side.

Nevertheless if Conway has made NZ his home: welcome son!

What an entirely predictable bullshit fiasco regarding Robinson. Trash rag waits until his debut, then prints the story straight away, player is apologetic, and investigation is launched (wtf does that even mean), non-white player says he isn't racist etc etc.

Having seen all the tweet's on the daily mail, I really wish he'd be completely unrepentant and point out they were jokes, plain and simple & were there to be enjoyed by him and his friends. Anybody that reads them and genuinely thinks he's bigoted in any way shape or form is a moron. This virtue signalling does absolutely nothing for anybody, in any place, of any colour, race or sex, at all.

I firmly believe this shit does the causes more harm than good.
