Movie review thread...

@mariner4life I must've seen it on VHS twenty times when I was a kid. Great cast BTW.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel Have you tried Karate Kid?

I think the reason I enjoyed 'Stranger Things" on Netflix was cos of so many of the movies mentioned above, the nostalgia value was great.
"Flight of the Navigator", wow there's one I haven't thought about for about 30 years, must give it a whirl to see if it's held up.

Haven't watched that one either.

Short Circuit ("Number 5 is alive!")

Difficult to find movies for kids that age.
In the end we decided we didn't mind M movies as long as there was/is no sex (no sex please we're tweenagers) and the violence was kind of stylised. Some suggestions that worked for us ...
(not 80s movies):
All the Pirates movies (the ghosts weren't too scary)
Stardust.80s movies:
Jumanji
Star Wars (ms boo jr didn't get it ...)
Indiana Jones (even if Temple and Skull were absolute rubbish) -

Re: Flight of the Navigator......looked it up and it isn't the one I was thinking of. ( still have fond memories of that one though )
I clearly got my 80s flicks confused, the movie I meant is actually this, anyone remember it ?
I remember being at the video store and we had to choose between that film and Back to the Future. We chose BTTF of course. For some reason I never saw the other one. It has a very young Ethan Hawke right?
Bovadae: I've been considering Romancing the Stone but I recall that crocodile hand eating scene to be incredibly graphic. On the other hand I was about 8 when I saw that film and laughed my head off. I recall Jewel of the Nile being boring as hell, but I may view it differently now.

TR Junior watched Forrest Gump on the weekend, he liked it.

Spectre
My least favourite of the Craig Bond movies. Suspect I'm not alone there, either.
It was just a bit sterile overall, with some really good stuff in there. Craig really dialled in this performance, and Waltz didn't give much else besides the bad guy he gave us in Basterds IMHO.
The quim was good. Lea Seydoux smoked it in various satiny silk things, although the lack of Isabella full-length in corsetry loses it half a mark.
