I thought Kaino would get a start but they wouldn't be resting Squire not to play him in Cape Town.

The big surprise for me in the team is that Kaino isn't starting - let alone not featuring at all. I thought they'd go with their strongest team, which they pretty much have apart from JK and possibly Naholo/Havili over NMS. Which might not bode that well for JK's place in the pecking order.

Not sure Squire is being completely rested. He took a head knock vs the Jaapies and might be at home because of that.

Great to see Fifita and Todd in the starting lineup.

Kaino I thought would’ve been on the bench, possibly covering 6/lock. Surprised PT is in the 23, but good on him for getting back in.

Kaino a surprise, but didn't he get a knock in Auckland game? Thought Taylor might get a rest. Likewise I thought TKB would get a run, as Thomas has played a lot of minutes this year.

ACT will relish the prospect of almost a Chch front five at some point in third quarter. Will be interesting to see how Barrett (S) and Spot (P) go at this level!

Kaino has a fight on his hands to get his spot back. I think that the selectors are being very consistent here. If you are out from injury you are considered the incumbent and given a chance (or two) to reclaim. If you are missing from your own actions and others step up you have to fight your way back in.
I'm sure they weren't expecting to make the changeover this season but it was forced on them and Squire has grabbed the opportunity.
Bonus is that JK will still go on the EOYT and be quite fresh so that helps with experienced depth.

    @crucial

DMac has played every minute for the Chiefs in the last 2 seasons. He might be a midget but he's tough and durable.

That's very impressive - wonder if any other players have done that - 2 seasons plus finals

His employers certainly get their monies worth in quantity.

It makes you wonder if we see more highlights because he plays more minutes/ more errors because he plays more minutes/ both

Barrett would probably be no. 2 without the 12 yellow and red cards he's received this season.

I imagine those minutes include the naughty chair time.

Wow. He's played 3 full games of footy more than the second person.

Good boy! He will sleep well at the end of this season.

This could be Hames one chance for redemption. He had such a poor game at Albany, I'm sure he'll be chomping to make up for it.

That could make it worse. His impact reminded me of that horror show for Lauaki, just not as visible.
