Were there other applicants? Certainly the Bulldogs and RA can't have been among her referees.

I couldn't give two fucks about 'battle scars'. I want to know the candidate has a proven record of leaving an org in a much better position than when they arrived.

This is the second person who keeps getting top posts that I'm baffled about. The other is Michael Redman.

She's still got plenty of fans in Aussie rugby. I reckon she got an incredibly raw deal.

Now I can't say for sure she's good or bad, the issue was she never got the chance to show it either way.

Very true. An independent review showed that the corporate ExCo/Board level in Australia is effectively a Club.

@barbarian given she was the head of 2 sports whose shop windows were male teams, with male dominated staff I expect too, was always up against it, and tarnished with the Folou fallout

Her CV shows she has the experience for the new role...time will now tell if she up to it or not.

Why you guys can’t just celebrate it when a woman gets a top job and is not based on her looks.

I meant it isn’t, is it?

Not someone that knew Australian labour laws. Didn't even get to court did it?

Exactly. She's held the position, which meant she was worthy of them when she got them. Depending on what you read about from Aussie about it, its' very mixed. I would say that if you are old boys club ... you think she was shit and would vote for one of your old boys in ... if not, then perhaps she tried to generate some much needed change.

It was never going to. Surely you must acknowledge the extremely difficult position Folau put RA in tho?

You know me mate, I hate spurious hate speech over reactions. He mentioned many sinners and only one group was singled out for victim status, plus it all relied on us pretending to believe in hell.

Outraged nobody except those who view gays as vulnerable victims, always on the verge of suicide , and that twitter tiny minority. (or those with guilty abusive pasts?)

Never respond till the news cycle resumes

"We encourage all people from all backgrounds to be part of the Australian Rugby family. All are welcome. We will robustly review this incident and to do so properly will take more than a month. No further comments on this matter till then. Thank you"

But yes mate, he did make a sloppy bed.

But there's no tangible benefit from losing 4 mill and the poster boy at the time and everyone pretty much thinks the same as before; religious people don't understand the science relating to homosexuality.

    @Crucial
How do they craft these excellent results for themselves and such financial, structural and reputational disaster for their employer?

I do recall The Goth was deported in October along with 30 other New Zealand crooks holidaying in our prisons.

Assuming the NZRU and NZ cricket each has an administrative officer who can spend a couple of days every now and then booking flights and accommodation for the teams to travel about the joint, this dinky little outfit sounds like a pretend private sector government bureau set up to ensure Saint Jacinda, Clip Clop, Clip Clop never misses out on an opportunity to bathe in reflected glory and be lovely for the old dears and other dopes who re-elected it.

New Zealand must be ever so rich to be able to afford some exorbitant salary for a well known incompetent to make yet another mess of things and be given go away money in a year or two.

But by far the biggest transgression in this tempest, the driving force of all the angst and anger, the primary shit stirrer was Alan faking Joyce.

He's the one that chose to make it extremely difficult for Raelene.

Sponsorship deals are lauded and compliments fly when the deal gets announced, but by christ those "pillars of the sport" sure do drop you like a dog turd the moment the wind changes. (Same thing happened to the departed Raelene's bulldogs)

"Obviously QANTAS strives for inclusivity and it's also our duty to assist everyone in this endeavour. We will work tirelessly with RA and Israel openly and honestly to further unite the QANTAS Wallabies family for the upcoming RWC. Check the website for travel deals...."

His bully boy publicity stunt was a disgrace.

He ran in, threw a grenade, got blanket exposure and free advertising and then promptly fucked off.

I think that Castle's reputation as CEO at Netball NZ will have played an important part in her getting this position.

    Great call.

Succeeding again in NZ conditions, with NZ contacts and NZ culture is a very different beast from having to enter the snake pit of Australian Rugby politics (see also: Deans). Aussies are superficially similar, but there are some deep seated differences
