Barrett will be replacing Lima Sopoaga, whose partner is awaiting the birth of their first child.

Fucken women ruining the best laid fucking plans !!

Perfect game for Lima to have a run starting again

I have been reliably informed in the past that the team is named on Thursday at 5am NZ time. In fact people seemed quite adamant that this is what happens - and yet...

    Have found the error:

@The All Blacks team to take on Argentina in Buenos Aires this weekend will be named at 5pm Thursday NZT.

The PM is quite important but possibly throws into question the veracity of previous posts regarding team naming...

@snowy I suspect the PR thought it was the usual 5 AYEM!

We'll find out after the game what the bigger picture is as 6 players from this squad will go back home.

I thought Kaino would get a start but they wouldn't be resting Squire not to play him in Cape Town.

How will McKenzie go at 10? Will Naholo ever play really well in Black, or forever destined to only be then man at Super Level? What incriminating info does SBW have on Steve? Can Fifita back up? How will PT, NL and DH go off the bench?

I'm hoping DMac gets subbed for Havili. The idea he'd be handed five-eighth duties for the All Blacks when he plays fullback at Super Rugby level is frightening.

The big surprise for me in the team is that Kaino isn't starting - let alone not featuring at all. I thought they'd go with their strongest team, which they pretty much have apart from JK and possibly Naholo/Havili over NMS. Which might not bode that well for JK's place in the pecking order.

Not sure Squire is being completely rested. He took a head knock vs the Jaapies and might be at home because of that.

Great to see Fifita and Todd in the starting lineup.

Kaino I thought would’ve been on the bench, possibly covering 6/lock. Surprised PT is in the 23, but good on him for getting back in.

Kaino a surprise, but didn't he get a knock in Auckland game? Thought Taylor might get a rest. Likewise I thought TKB would get a run, as Thomas has played a lot of minutes this year.

ACT will relish the prospect of almost a Chch front five at some point in third quarter. Will be interesting to see how Barrett (S) and Spot (P) go at this level!

Kaino has a fight on his hands to get his spot back. I think that the selectors are being very consistent here. If you are out from injury you are considered the incumbent and given a chance (or two) to reclaim. If you are missing from your own actions and others step up you have to fight your way back in.
I'm sure they weren't expecting to make the changeover this season but it was forced on them and Squire has grabbed the opportunity.
Bonus is that JK will still go on the EOYT and be quite fresh so that helps with experienced depth.
