Wtf! Admission of preplanned, and leadership group endorsed, ball tampering!! Then you throw your youngest player under the bus??!! Fuck me, these guys have a long way back to any claims of playing anywhere near the spirit of the game.
@Crucial that 'explain' opening to the vid was brutally cold.

Interesting to read through the commentary on cricinfo, they seemed keen to downplay the incident as it unfolded. Bias showing through there.

Completely unsurprised. When it comes to their national cricket team: "same old Aussies, always cheating".

I’d be devasted if Kane ever resorted to this.

Come on. It's just good hard aggressive cricket. They know where the line is and they don't cross it.

Oh hang on. That's their excuse for personal abuse of the opposition. What's their excuse for blatant cheating again? "We're not good enough to win an important game ...?"

So Bancroft to be the scapegoat?

The biggest scapegoat since Trevor Chappell

We know that line changes depending on the circumstances.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot and deflecting any conversation about Rabada and the personal abuse from the crowd.

I remember that the underarm incident did not go down well with the Aussie cricketing public and this probably won't either. They like tough play, they don't mind boorish behaviour, but they don't like outright cheating

I hope the S.A. team get a supply of the tape and wear it on their middle finger 😁

The more I read about this the worse it gets. Can't see how Smith can continue as capt, even if it's just a temp stand down. It's the stupidity as much as the cheating, not to mention how they essentially set Bancroft up to do it. I bet there were all manner of winks and gestures from leadership while Bancroft was in the vicinity.

It’s cheating 101, use the youngest less experienced guy as your patsy. If he’s caught then you can limit the damage and fall out

@virgil which makes it even worse. Wonder if Bancroft is thinking about what sort of (non) career he might have now?!

Watch the first bit where Smith throws Bancroft under the bus

Smith and Boof should be sacked. 'The boys in the shed are embarrassed'. So much remorse (after being caught).

In his rambling, though, he did confess to bringing the game into disrepute.

.....and it is all so fucking hilarious!

Mate I don’t see it as hilarious at all. They’ve been caught out blatantly cheating, so blatant that they’ve had to fess up. That’s not good for cricket and it’s a real fucking slap in the face for the Aussie supporters. I know, cue much mirth about their plight but the majority are genuine fans of the game and deserve better. I know if this had been England I’d be ropable.

Hence my more serious post underneath that one.

The hilarious-ness of it is that it comes after Boof just tried to take the moral high ground and the incessant talk about not crossing lines. That part is funny.

IMO if the ICC don't throw the book at these fuckwits the game has just written its death notice.

Looking forward to our aussies ferners take on all this...

If they've broken the laws of the game, punish them appropriately. The end.

....aaannddd then use time honoured mocking as a means to modify and entrench their new non-cheating behaviour going forward 😊

They haven't really thrown Bancroft under the bus. Smith came out and admitted the leadership group told him to do that. They did not have to say it.

@stockcar86 perfect delivery. In real time, Davey was smashing it, lovely attacking shots, 30 off 13 and then that!
