The one in the car was tragic beyond words - you can hear the cop panicking while he still has his gun at the ready rather than starting any kind of first aid.

The first one was fucking awful as well, pinned with no way to move, tells the cops he has a gun and they start yelling he's got a gun and shoot him. wtf!

Wondering what we'll hear from the NRA about this. The guy in the car had a concealed carry license, and from the accounts so far did everything right in advising the cop about it and that he had a gun.

To play devils advocate. The key to that is 'accounts so far', we dont actually know what happened previous to him being shot.

Not playing devils advocate.... hard pressed to think he was a danger when he had his wife and baby in the car and was pulled over for a busted tail light...
-

I had the same thought - looks like the guy did everything right in terms of notification. Lose-lose situation if you're black maybe :(
-

Totally lose-lose NTA, which is why I wonder what the NRA is going to do (if it all turns out legit about informing the cop etc).

BSG, not sure if that cop was wearing a camera, or if the footage will be released (has been known to go missing). I know shock does crazy stuff to people, but the panic in that cops voice just screams 'omg I just fucked up and shot a guy reaching for his wallet'. Guess he could have asked him to step out of the car and frisked him for the gun/wallet?
-

After watching this and the OJ doco you can see why much of black America just wanted him to win so they could see a black guy battle the law and come out on top
-

I think all they have to do is tell them if they have a weapon and the licence for it and then it all goes from there, obviously better than this one

Or I might be thinking Alaska whihc has more bizaare rules?
-

Yeah, that's one of the saddest things I've ever seen. Totally needless. -

Fifth cop dead.

Unbelievable all of this. I don't think any of the protesters wanted more bloodshed, against anybody.

Equally unbelievable that a guy can be part of the protest walking down the street carrying a semi-automatic weapon.
-

Open-carry activists are the worst. I really, really cannot stand them.
-

Apparently the body cam footage from the 2 cops outside the bottle store is non existent they both malfunctioned. Not sure about the guy in the car. Now there is a bit of retaliation. Its like the wild west out there these days.

Doubt NRA will say anything, its a lose lose for them. Support the victims cops will be pissed, support the cops any sane person will be pissed. But its interesting that every single party involved in this had a gun. Their normal line is we need MOAAARR GUNS. Seems like they were at capacity for this incident.
-

Who then really quickly gives it to the cops to ensure no one accidentally shoots him. Almost like carrying there was not adding to his safety

I may have the context of your post wrong here. Are you suggesting US police are working in an environment where they are fearful of black citizens shooting them at the time of this incident? -

Siam, I think that Mooshld (one of our more reasonable posters) is saying that if he reacted like then he must have some kind of completely unreasonable level fear going on. i.e. There is no way that the shooting can be explained a reasonable mindset.

Hold on what post are you talking about here. I am making no excuses for the cops. I was just noting that every single person was armed, it was just an observation. Maybe it was my shitty punctuation, but I still can't see where someone might think that from any of my posts. Or has Tim mistaken my and antipodeans posts?

Impossible for me to relate to the culture in the US where everyone needs to be armed all the time.

Also there is no evidence of who these snipers where or who they were associated with. At this point they could have been crack pot militants trying to start a race war, BLM, ISIS or just a bunch of high school kids living out a COD fantasy. This is the US any of things are possible.
-

Tim, I was replying to Antipodean, not Mooshld - both of whom are 2 of our more reasonable posters :)
